Project 2-Producing the short animation pitch bible

For this project, we need to develop a promotional Bible for Project 1. I need to design the PPT with my own ideas. The audience of the Bible is children aged 6-9, so the illustrations in my PPT need to attract children and my illustrations also need to be understandable to children. I design the background illustrations of each page according to the content provided by the teacher.

I drew 40 storyboards based on the script I wrote. In the shots, I showed the daytime and the darkness in the cave, which would be easier in post-production.

I started designing my slides. I needed to design each page of my slides based on the content of each page.I draw on procreat.

Logline

While helping strangers find the legendary treasure, the young Alex (the protagonist) discovered the real treasure - kindness and courage in people hearts.

Genre : Action Adventure

 Target audience: Pre-School 6-9 year old kid 

Duration: 30 second 

Technique: 2D Animation

 Our assignment needs to attract children. My painting style is cartoon-like, with strong color contrast and bright font colors to catch children's eyes.

On the first slide I describe the main setting: the cave, where most of my scenes take place.

I designed the main scenes from my imagination and drew them out.On this page, I introduced my logline and product specifications. My background mainly depicts the light in the cave, which also represents the gold in the cave.

On this page, I introduced Synopsis and theme, and I also drew the forest in my storyboard.

Next, I drew my protagonist Alex. He is a young man in the village. He is sunny, confident, strong, and helpful.

I finished the slides and put them into a pdf. I got feedback from teacher KAMAL. After reading my slides, I decided to change the font color from red to yellow so it would be more eye-catching. I also needed to change the order of my table of contents, which usually puts the logline first.

Reflections

This project is very interesting. To be precise, we are developing a small picture book, mainly for children. The pitch bible is an important document, which is about character design, script design, and the most important cover design. I also learned some skills in making storyboards. I also learned the importance of story beats and storyboards. I believe I can successfully complete my final animation video in the final assignment.
