Project 3: Concept Presentation
Week 6
We discussed our rewritten script with teacher Kamal again, and he
thought it was feasible and gave us new feedback. This week, the teacher
said we did a good job.
- Panel panning (arrows)
- Change design to more local
- Malaysian school uniform
- More variations to the chef
- Change the waiters hairstyle and body type (different for woman and man)
- 1 panel (artboard) shows 1 idea, so that its easier to understand
- Use different camera angles
The logo idea:
- Show empty pot
- Slowly turn into the logo
To ensure cultural authenticity, I needed to change the children's clothing to Malaysian school uniforms to more accurately reflect the local environment. For the adults, their clothing should look more authentic and fit the environment, avoiding overly westernized designs.
In addition, I explored changes to the chef character and decided to depict a shorter, chunkier version to add variety and visual interest.
To refine the character design, I worked with team members to discuss various references. This helped me create the final character design that matched our project's style and narrative goals.

I used these references and completed the final character design in AI.

After feedback from week six, we added red arrows to the storyboard to more clearly show the character’s movements in each scene.
Week 7
I designed part of the storyboard,my new task was to refine the storyboard, and I looked for references online through sketches.

- Be careful with white background
- Make sure characters can stand out in the background
- Can add gradient effect
- Try to elaborate the storyboard
- The final portfolio must be solid
Reflections
Experience:
We rewrote the script with the team members and discussed it, and received positive feedback. According to your suggestions, we made local adjustments to the character design. For example, the character's costumes are closer to reality, avoiding over-focusing on the detailed storyboard design. According to your suggestions, I changed the costumes of the children's characters to Malaysian school uniforms, and the costumes of the adult characters are also closer to reality, avoiding excessive Westernization. I added more changes to the chef character and designed a short and fat chef image
Observations:
By using different camera angles, you can add visual variety and interest. In a storyboard, each panel shows one idea, which helps convey the message more clearly.
Findings:
Overall, this assignment gave me a deep understanding of the importance of details and teamwork in the design process, and how to continuously optimize the design based on feedback to achieve the best results.
