INSTRUCTIONS
ROBOT DESIGN
Our mission is Create an original 3D robot design suitable for use in
animation, games, or digital art. The robot should reflect of a human like
two legs, two hands and so on.
I started thinking about the direction of my design and finally decided
to create a robot similar to Gundam. I started looking for
reference materials online.

I found the reference and started modeling in Maya
I started designing from top to bottom, I started with the head,First
create a sphere, and then create a wrapping shell based on the copy.
I have been adjusting here for a long time, but the effect is not ideal
when I always press the 3 key. I usually start to fix the line on the basis
of the modeling appearance is similar. If there is a problem with the line,
it means that there are some errors in my model, so I can adjust it in
time.
I started designing the outline based on the head shape.

The head is now complete, and we start to create the body. The following
objects are all deformed from the most basic square.
I started to create the armor, I started with faces, then I extruded the
faces to create the basic shape, then I constructed it by pulling the edges
and adjusting the points.
After creating the armor, the two points must be merged in time,
otherwise when the line is stuck, only half of it can be stuck.
I want to create space for the arms on both sides of the body. I choose
manual routing to create a circle so that I can place the arms later.

can generate many faces, and then deform them
I started to create the shoulder part, but I always didn't do it well,
and the effect of my stitching was not very ideal, so I planned to
redesign it.
But when I finished designing the shoulders, I thought the arms were not
right. One design was more round, and the other was more square. I started to
redesign the arms to unify the style.

Next, start designing the legs
At this point, I showed my progress to the teacher. The teacher gave me some
advice, saying that my progress was a bit slow and I needed to speed up. Since I
kept changing the design, the speed slowed down. The teacher said that this is
how to model the model from the beginning. I asked the teacher if my head design
would be inconsistent with the body, and it always felt like the head was small
and the body was big. The teacher said that the head design was not very good,
but it was okay, so I planned to redesign the head at the end.
I also changed the chest, I made the chest cavity more voluminous. By
comparison, it makes me feel better, because the teacher said that those of us
who major in animation should do better.
I'm going to put both hands in the end, and I start remodeling the head ,I
plan to design the head to look like a knight.
Finally I added some decorations to the head
This is a screenshot of me with only my hands left. It won’t be very good, but
I’m glad I made it.
I added simple weapons on the back to make him look a little cooler. At the end I deleted all the history so that it would not get stuck when rendering later.
Next is the hand design ,I captured the details
After finishing all the white films, I started to render the textures.

Reflection
The whole semester was very difficult. At the beginning of the class, the simple patchwork and extrusion operations made me feel the difficulty, so after class, I would look for teaching videos on the Internet to learn more about the operation methods, so that I could complete the homework in time later. Fortunately, through these exercises, I gradually became familiar with the Maya software and could complete the middle membrane by myself. I would feel gratified for myself, because before I learned modeling, I always heard that modeling would be difficult, so I was very happy that I completed the final homework and achieved my expectations. I always encounter many problems in the modeling process. I will look for tutorials on the Internet to solve the problems, but sometimes I will not be satisfied, and I will always do it again several times. Sometimes a fragmented part will make me study for several hours, but I have overcome them. I am also very familiar with the Maya software. When it comes to the final homework, I will model faster than before, but it still takes many days. After a whole semester, although it is very difficult, I have learned a lot of knowledge. I hope it will get better and better in the future.
